Step 8 - Create a Logo, Sales Materials and Packaging

Now that you are launching your company, you will need a logo, letterhead, business cards, sales flyers, product packaging and press materials. All of these things contribute to the image of your company and product. If these are low quality, people will think your company is low quality, so you must carefully consider these items.

Packaging is an especially important part of every product, but most inventors underestimate its value.  Without an extensive sales force, you will need to rely on your packaging to sell your product off the shelves.  You need to match your packaging to the image of your idea whether it is a high-end luxury product or an impulse item.  Also your target distribution channels may have very specific requirements for either the quality or the display method of your packaging (i.e. hanging from hooks, stacked on a shelf, etc.).

Logo Packages:

A good logo takes time. It's necessary to research existing logos for similar products/companies and to sketch a ton of ideas to help come up with the solution. More time spent = more research, more sketches, more logo choices and a better solution.

Each package includes stationary design.

Basic Logo Package: 7 hours = $420
Average Logo Package: 13 hours = $780
Premium Logo Package: 20 hours = $1,200

Flyer   / Brochure   Packages:

Basic Flyer / Brochure: Information and imagery well organized
1 sided: 4 hours = $240
2 sided: 6 hours = $360

Average Flyer / Brochure: Information and imagery well organized with more time spent on design
1 sided: 8 hours = $480
2 sided: 12 hours = $720

Premium Flyer / Brochure: Information and imagery well organized with even more time spent on design
1 sided: 12 hours = $720
2 sided: 18 hours = $1080

Price may need to be adjusted if photography or product illustration is needed.

Instruction/Operation Manuals:

The prices are the same as the flyer packages but are subject to change due to the quantity of pages or the necessity of photography or product illustration.

Product Photography:

Depends on the quantity of pictures  
$60/hr

Packaging:

Packaging comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, so every job varies.
$60 /hr

Trademarks:
